Valerio Pruneri, ICREA Professor and Corning Inc. Chair, leads the Optoelectronics group at ICFO. Previously he worked for Avanex, Corning, Pirelli, and the University of Southampton. He is inventor in more than 65 patent families and has delivered more than 100 invited talks. With his group he has developed technologies for the photonics, quantum, sensing and display industries. These include multifunctional optical surfaces for antireflection and antimicrobial applications, low voltage electro-optic modulators and tunable lasers for DWDM using photonic integrated circuits, quantum random number generators, quantum phase imagers and quantum key distribution systems for cryptography.
His work has led to numerous industrial collaborations (e.g. Corning Inc., Carl Zeiss and Luxottica) and the creation of three spin offs, Quside, Sixsenso and Luxquanta.
