50 years after the Limits to Growth report

A new review published by Lancet Planetary Health, revisited the state of the debate and the literature 50 years after the Limits to Growth report. It finds increasing evidence confirming the Limits to Growth hypothesis that continuous growth is not compatible with planetary wellbeing, and discusses new data that suggest that decent living standards can be secured for everyone on this planet with a fraction of current throughput and output. Post-growth models and scenarios are evaluated and found to produce under certain conditions superior climate and social outcomes to growth trajectories.
